Zhōngwén kè shàng, lǎoshī ràng wǒmen sì ge rén yì zǔ, xuǎnzé yí ge Zhōngguó chéngshì zuò jièshào. Wǒmen xuǎn le Hángzhōu, yīnwèi yǒu tóngxué yǐqián qùguo nàli, yě yǒu rén duì Xīhú hé Zhōngguó de kējì gōngsī hěn gǎn xìngqù.

In Chinese class, the teacher puts us in groups of four and asks each group to choose a Chinese city to introduce. We choose Hangzhou because one classmate has been there before, and others are interested in West Lake and Chinese technology companies.

先:地图交通信息,西湖,解当地学,负责把中文句子简单。约只用自己解释词,把难内容直接放报告。

Wǒmen xiān fēngōng: yí ge rén zhǎo dìtú hé jiāotōng xìnxī, yí ge rén zhǎo Xīhú de zīliào, yí ge rén liǎojiě dāngdì de xuéxiào hé dàxué, wǒ fùzé bǎ Zhōngwén jùzi xiě de jiǎndān yìdiǎnr. Wǒmen yuēhǎo zhǐ yòng zìjǐ néng jiěshì de cí, bù bǎ hěn nán de nèiróng zhíjiē fàng jìn bàogào.

We divide the work first: one person finds maps and transport information, one researches West Lake, one learns about local schools and universities, and I make the Chinese sentences a little simpler. We agree to use only words we can explain ourselves and not put very difficult content directly into the report.

展示天,先用中文位置、交通,用英文解释较难部分。内容定,清楚。项目发现,语言解。

Zhǎnshì nà tiān, wǒmen xiān yòng Zhōngwén shuō chéngshì de wèizhi, tiānqì hé jiāotōng, zài yòng Yīngwén jiěshì bǐjiào nán de bùfen. Lǎoshī shuō wǒmen de nèiróng bù yídìng zuì duō, dànshì jiégòu hěn qīngchu. Zhège xiàngmù ràng wǒ fāxiàn, xuéxí yǔyán yě kěyǐ bāngzhù wǒmen liǎojiě yí ge chéngshì.

On presentation day, we first use Chinese to talk about the city’s location, weather and transport, then use English to explain harder parts. The teacher says our content is not necessarily the most, but the structure is very clear. This project helps me discover that learning a language can also help us understand a city.

中文课上,老师让我们四个人一组,选择一个中国城市做介绍。我们选了杭州,因为有同学以前去过那里,也有人对西湖和中国的科技公司很感兴趣。
